On August 21st we went into for our 12 week appointment. This appointment was with the perientologist to check for possible birth defects. Thanks to some of our friends we were warned there was going to be a sonogram, which meant that Paul would be going with me to this one. It was a very exciting, yet nerve-racking day. We have been praying since the very beginning that this pregnancy would be a healthy one, baby would be healthy, and mom the same. I knew all the results were in God's hands, but it can still be a scary situation. After waiting a while in the waiting room we were finally escorted back. When the doctor came in he talked through some things with us and started the sonogram. This particular test was checking for spina bifida and down syndrome. To check these things he had to be able to see the development of the back of the neck and the nose. Our little one was being difficult and he just couldn't get the results that he wanted to make sure the test came back accurate. Therefore, he went to see another patient and came back about 10 minutes later. Baby still was VERY squirmy and he had to push down very hard to get some good results. However, he did and all news was good news. He said it looks like we have a very healthy baby and all genetic markers with the test came back GREAT! We have been incredibly blessed so far in our pregnancy and pray for continued health for all involved. Here are a few snapshots he got of our little one:

We also got a prediction on the sex of the baby, but will update more on that after the October 8th anatomy scan!
That night we got to share a video version of the sonogram with my family. My sister fixed a scrumptious lasagna dinner along with brownies for dessert. This was perfect because it was a very long day. It was my first day back at work (meetings all day) and spent a total of 3 hours in doctor's offices! I was spent, but it was so good to spend time with family getting to share our little one!
